We invite you to view some of the work we are currently leading and/or collaborating on, and invite you to participate and/or contribute.

  • Ohio college and university faculty, staff, administrators and students have the ability to help create positive change through your leadership in your community.

Angry community members or students?  Hot topics like politics in the classroom and college-community relations?  Fellow faculty members who feel passionately about issues? Learn what to do when emotions run high and positions are deeply held.  Compromise isn't the only option.  In this workshop you will learn how to de-escalate difficult situations and move from gridlock* to effective solutions to challenging public issues.  Participants will practice identifying what other people actually need to move forward even when they aren't saying it, articulating what you need in way that makes difficult people responsive, managing high emotions, and developing solutions that get implemented because they integrate the needs of everyone involved.

*alternatives = impasse, confrontation, conflict, crisis

This workshop is fully customizable for colleges, universities, non-profits, city and local government. The linked flyer provides an overview of the training and is a sample specifically for higher education.

  • CEC was excited to serve as both a judge and a coach for the 3rd Annual International Online Peer Mediation Tournament which took place March - May, 2026. Sponsored by JAMS Foundation, NAPPP, and the Online Peer Mediation Platform, this global event brings together student mediators from elementary, middle, and high schools to showcase their conflict-resolution skills in a supportive and collaborative online environment. While this year’s contest is over, consider either participating as a coach, judge, or better yet…. working with young people in your schools to prepare them to participate in the competition.
